2008 Holiday Courses:

Would your son or daughter like to have a go at sailing this summer?

Our summer holiday sailing scheme is now in its 9th year and has proven to be a great way for visiting and local children to get to know each other through a challenging and rewarding experience. Our team of RYA instructors, safety boat crews and volunteers will ensure that the every session is carefully managed, educational and (most importantly) fun!

Children must be aged between a confident 8 years old and 12 years old. No previous sailing experience is needed, sailors are grouped according to age and ability.

Parents or guardians of visiting children are invited to make a minimum donation of £100. Each school involved with HRCST contributes to the running costs of their sailing with their own fund raising initiatives, and with a vast contribution in the form of volunteer help. However, for holiday courses we ask parents or guardians of local children to make a suitable donation.

To reserve a place(s) please email Alison with your name, contact details, and the course you wish your child to attend. Please download and complete an enrolment form (one per child) and send it with your donation to confirm your place(s), at least one month before the start date of your course.

All Sailors are fitted with HRCST Buoyancy Aids of the correct size, but they can wear their own if preferred. A wet suit is advisable, and shoes that can get wet, a spray top, a spare warm jumper, a hat and suncream are essential. Something to eat and drink on the homeward journey is all part of the fun. A set of dry clothes at the pick up point is a good idea as we can guarantee that they will get wet!

We collect the children by boat from either Helford River Sailing Club pontoons (Golden Gear steps when the tide is too low), or Helford Passage beach (outside The Ferryboat Inn). If for any reason your child cannot attend please notify us on 01326 231580 by 0830.

We aim never to cancel a session, but in the event of bad weather we may have to. Please call our information line on 01326 340663 if the forecast or conditions are questionable.

The Trust’s innovative programme builds confidence and self-esteem which has proved to accelerate academic learning. The Trust is a registered charity and provides facilities and equipment that have enabled more than 1,500 children to learn to row and sail.
