Medical Maelstrom In Aid Of Helford River Children’s Sailing Trust

Medical Maelstrom in aid of Helford River Children’s Sailing Trust

Medical Maelstrom trio Michele Sharkey, Anthony Seddon and Sam Freegard

A tincture of laughter and song

Medical Maelstrom are 3 doctors who happen to be rather good at music. Expect a cabaret-style evening of songs, reflections on the human condition and large dose of humour to lift the spirits.

Michele Sharkey began vocal training after completing her medical studies at the University of Glasgow. Her main interest is opera, but her favourite gigs are with Medical Maelstrom, despite the strain of keeping the chaps’ rampant egos under control.

Sam Freegard’s enjoyment of being silly on stage developed whilst studying medicine at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London where he performed regularly in revue. He sincerely hopes that his appearance with Michele and Anthony does not spoil otherwise high-class entertainment.

Anthony Seddon was a chorister at King’s College Cambridge, a music scholar at Clifton College Bristol and choral scholar at Magdalen College, Oxford where he studied medicine. After a brief foray with an in-demand close harmony pop group in the 1960s  – he even appeared on TV – he came to Cornwall to work at the then new, Treliske Hospital. A founder member of Duchy Opera, he has performed extensively in recital as an accompanist.

The GPs’ audiences say:

“Entertainment at its very best’’

“A concert worthy of the West End stage”

“I really don’t remember laughing so much before”
