Pre Season Courses

If you are keen to attend a course but cannot commit to any of the published dates then please get in contact. If a group of three people are able to commit to the same dates we are usually able to put on a bespoke course.

The RYA Powerboat Level 2 is an internationally recognised qualification that trains you to handle a small powerboat. It is an entry level course and no previous knowledge is required.

Volunteers who are able to drive and crew powerboats effectively are essential to enable the trust to run sessions safely.

Book with mike@nullhrcst.org.uk or call 07939 711328

Term-Time Courses

Sailing/Powerboat Tuition
We run a dedicated session for volunteers on Wednesday mornings during term time for volunteers to brush up their sailing skills or even start from scratch. This is very useful when you are volunteering during a school session as you will have a much better knowledge of how the boats work and what advice to give the children. We can also run RYA Powerboat Level 2 courses during these sessions.

As well as teaching volunteers to sail we will include some rigging/landing and launching sessions early in the season for those who would like them, to ensure that volunteers feel as useful as possible.

New for 2018!

Due to the ever troubling business of raising funds to support the trust’s activities, we have taken the decision to ask for donations towards the cost of the adult sailing/volunteer training sessions.

After asking several volunteers what they would deem a fair contribution, given the cost of putting the sessions on, we have decided on a figure of £15/session.

We would like the sessions to continue to be a way of thanking our volunteers for time given during school sessions and so would like to reduce the requested donation on a session for session basis. E.g. You attend 12 volunteer sailing sessions during the summer season but are only able to volunteer for eight school sessions. We would ask for a donation of £60.

We hope that you deem this move to be fair and we are, as always, very grateful for your support both in the time that you give and financially.

To book your place please fill out the online enrolment form below or email martin@nullhrcst.org.uk

Please Note:

It is vitally important that all volunteers involved with HRCST read and adhere to the procedures detailed in the following documents:

Volunteers are essential to the viability of the Children’s Sailing Trust. Volunteers help with safety boats and general support for the Sailing Instructors on and off the water.

We would like to recruit many more volunteers, especially with Trevassack Lake coming on stream over the next few years. There is plenty to do and it is all enjoyable and rewarding!  We will welcome you and we will train you.

  • Boat maintenance
  • Preparing the site at Trevassack
  • Safety boat operation
  • Sailing instruction and assistance
  • Office administration
  • Fundraising
